What a year 2020 has been so far!
No one could have predicted the state in which we find ourselves today. Our society and lives have been affected on a scale never seen before. While difficult to predict, some people within the Northern Beaches community are well prepared for this pandemic and have been busily preparing their gardens to be a little more self-sufficient.
This INTERNATIONAL PERMACULTURE DAY, Sunday, May 3rd we at PERMACULTURE NORTHERN BEACHES in collaboration with PETER TEYS /ZAIKODA PRODUCTIONS will bring to you the wonders of self-efficient gardening to the comfort of your own home. Watch for FREE ONLINE, professionally filmed live-streamed interactive educational tours, of some extraordinary permaculture inspired gardens. Loaded with the 12 principles of permaculture and a variety of different ways you can grow food in your own backyard.
GARDEN ADVENTURES WITH RACHEL DRYDEN: AN ALTERNATIVE PERSPECTIVE ON PANDEMIC
(ONLINE LIVE GARDEN TOUR) 1.00 pm - 2.00 pm
We don’t always choose our circumstances, but we do choose how we respond to them. The global pandemic we are currently facing can be responded to as an ADVENTURE, rather than a CRISES. It is an opportunity to leave behind all the habits and practices that are no longer essential to a regenerative way of being. The Adventure, my friends, is finding our path towards a regenerative life.
Welcome friends, to the co-created intentional community right here on the lower Northern Beaches. We are permaculture practitioners, yoginis, consultants, and essential service workers living together in a menagerie of a free-standing house and tiny homes.
Come with us on a journey through our rental home. Experience through the looking-glass of a Facebook Live Stream all of our permaculture projects and practices. Living in accordance with the 12 Permaculture Principles we have co-created: solar ovens, edible lawns, small-scale growing spaces, composting, eco cleaning products, mobile PV systems, meditation spaces, and much more.
MATT'S PERMACULTURE PALACE (ONLINE LIVE GARDEN TOUR) 3.00 pm -4.00 pm
Join Matt Wilson for a live stream event as he tours his garden. Located on a small suburban block of only 700m2, in the leafy suburb of Mona Vale, Matts place is an inspirational masterpiece of Permaculture design. Built with the intention of growing his own food and teaching his kids where their food comes from, Matt has packed his garden with veggie beds, fruit trees, bees, aquaponics and more.
This garden is a working example of how some initial hard work, a small budget, and the process of permaculture design, can result in a productive little food farm. Learn how to build a garden requiring minimal maintenance that allows you more time to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Spend some time this International Permaculture Day expanding your knowledge on how to become more self-sufficient with your family’s fresh food needs. Submit your questions straight to Facebook to have the garden designer answer them live.
POST YOUR OWN PANDEMIC PREPPING WITH PERMACULTURE VIDEO 5.00 pm -8.00 pm
CREATE, RECORD, and SHARE your own video on your favourite pandemic self-efficiency tip for survival. Maybe you have a recipe for your own immunity booster, an innovative gardening tip or you have created your own recycled toilet paper. Attend this page event and from 5 pm this INTERNATIONAL PERMACULTURE DAY, Sunday, May 3rd, you will be able to post your own video.
