Join Malcolm Fisher, from Save the Manly Dam Catchment Committee for a tour of the successful community Mermaids Pool Restoration project. Learn about local native species of plants, improving habitat for wildlife and the correct procedures for installing nesting boxes to maximise their use by local wildlife. Learn about current threats facing northern beaches remaining habitat such as invasive introduced species, illegal clearing and dumping of rubbish and how to be successful in organising grassroots local action to protect habitat.
After the tour and a brief cake and tea break, lend a hand and join the local volunteers to gain from experienced volunteer bush regenerators on plant identification, tool use for the removal of invasive species and how to improve successful reestablishment of local indigenous species.
Bushcare at Mermaid Pool is carried out within Northern Beaches Council’s ”Friends of the Bush program”.
